The City of Willow Park was
officially incorporated in
1963, but the city’s name
dates back to a roadside park
- complete with willow trees
- constructed adjacent to US
Hwy 80 in the 1940s. The park,
according to historian Kay Davis,
was complete with native willow
trees and a pond, a haven for
weary travelers headed west out of
the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.
The park was eventually
demolished when Hwy 80 became
Interstate 20 in 1968.
WILLOW PARK
Today, Willow Park is the
second largest city in the county,
boasting a little over 5,000
residents, and continues to see
rapid growth, both commercially
and residentially. More than 30
new homes were completed in
2018 and many more are in the
permitting stage for 2019.
Willow Park is one of the
commercial hubs of the county,
with “The Shops of Willow Park”
leading the way, as well as the
thriving south Ranch House
Road corridor. Willow Park

features a grocery store, a variety of
restaurants, retailers, a Texas Health
Resources hospital, and a lengthy
list of service providers such as
banks, financial consultants, real
estate agents, doctors, and dentists.
Residents of Willow Park enjoy
a high quality of life in an attractive
setting, while still having access to
all the amenities of the “big city.”
“Willow Park has made great
strides moving forward with our
projects such as the new building
for the fire and police departments
and the improvements to Ranch
House Road,” Mayor Doyle Moss
said. “There is good reason to
be optimistic about the future
of our city.”
The city’s new, $4 million public
safety building, which will house
the police and fire departments, is
expected to be completed in late
summer 2019. The building project
has run simultaneously with the
city’s other large capital project – a
complete reconstruction of the
northern part of Ranch House
Road, which includes the use of
