The annual Aledo Children’s
AdvoCats “Run, Walk, or Crawl”
(RWC) will be back as a glow-run this
year at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 23.
The RWC has been the major
fundraiser each year for the

funds for medical expenses,
clothing, living expenses, field trips,
senior expenses, dental care, school
supplies, and counseling in the
Aledo Independent School District.
Kristin Bryan, public relations
chair for the AdvoCats, said the
glow-run concept was a hit last year.
“Grab your glow sticks and help
us light up the night and raise funds
for children and families in need in
our community,” Bryan said.
More than 1,200 registered
runners and walkers and dozens
of local business and community
organizations participated in last
year’s race.

Willow Park, Annetta
ballots draw a crowd

The Community News
With no contested races to put
before the voters, Aledo ISD and
the city of Hudson Oaks won’t be
holding elections May 4.
Place 4 trustee Forrest Collins
is unopposed in his bid for a second
two-year term on the Aledo
school board. Place 5 trustee Bobby
J Rigues announced early on that
he would not seek re-election, and
former PTO president Jennifer
Taylor stepped up and filed for that
position.
No other candidates are seeking
those offices, so the board will
vote in their March meeting on a
motion to cancel the election.
In Hudson Oaks, Places 2, 4,
and 5 are up for re-election this
year, but Mayor pro-tem Brian
Lixey, who holds Place 2, as well
as Place 4 council member Tom
Fitzpatrick and Place 5 council
member Daniel Cross, are all unopposed.
City secretary Patrick Lawler
said a motion to cancel the election
would be on the council’s agenda
when it meets Feb. 28 at 7 p.m.
