aimed at improving mobility
and easing congestion as more
people discover Parker County is a
wonderful place to live.
“We are looking proactively
beyond this project,” said Deen.
“Anyone who travels on I-20
during peak times knows that
traffic is becoming an issue. We
need to consider how public safety
and emergency vehicles will get
around. It’s important that we
communicate with school districts
on where they are going to build
schools, and with our cities so we
can plan for the future.”
Deen said the county was
under budget and well within
the target completion date on the
loop.
“The commissioners court is
working together really well right
now and my involvement with
transportation has been elevated,”
said Deen. “Now we are working
on what’s next.”
Parker County is bisected by
Interstate 20 to the east and west,
with FM 5, FM 1187, and US
180 also providing major routes
in the eastern part of the county.
Most residential areas are easily
accessible from the interstate, and
downtown Fort Worth is a short
20-minute drive from the eastern
part of the county. Dallas/Fort
Worth International Airport is the
closest major airport to the area,
about an hour’s drive away.
Parker County is also home to
a small private airport near FM
5 and I-20 that serves private
aircraft.
Commuters in the metroplex
can also choose the TRE, a
rail service that travels from
downtown Fort Worth to
downtown Dallas with several
stops along the way. TRE has two
