Production of a second development of The
Villas of Aledo on Old Annetta Road will add 37
new housing units.
Harvest of Aledo, a Memory Care & Senior
Living Center, on Bailey Ranch Road will be a
325,805 sq. foot facility. It will also have 9 duplex
style cottages for seniors. Construction is expected
to begin in late spring 2020.
The Aledo Economic Development Corporation
continues to implement its strategic plan in
supporting new and existing businesses. They
held meetings along with the City Council, city
boards, local businesses and community leaders in
the summer of 2019 with the Velocity Group to
update the strategic plan from 2008. The DNA
of Place and establishing Aledo as a Center of
Educational Excellence were top priorities. The
update also included Pine Street connection; Parks
of Aledo Trail System connectivity; a Civic District
(Aledo Commons Park) and a Tax Increment
Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) project.
The Gateway Business Corridor (FM1187/
Bankhead to Oak Street) is continuing to prosper
with Tri-County Electric Cooperative, preparing
to occupy the 42,000 square foot office building
on Bailey Ranch Road. The 16,000 s.f. D1 Fitness
Center opened in late February 2020. First Bank
opened their Aledo branch in mid-October 2019.
CVS opened in mid-October 2019. Baylor Scott
& White Rehab Facility began breaking ground in
late February next to D1 Fitness Center. Restaurant,
retail, and office space is available within this
commercially zoned business corridor.
Aledo now has a continuous sidewalk from I-20,
through the downtown area, to the southern city
limits on FM 5. The third and final grant-funded
sidewalk project on Old Annetta Road connecting
the western boundaries of the City of Aledo is
scheduled to begin mid to late summer 2020.
Completion of this project will connect sidewalks
throughout the entire City, increasing public safety
for students who walk to school, pedestrians, and
area bicyclists.
TXDOT is currently in design for widening
FM1187 south of the railroad tracks passing in front
of Vandagriff and the Middle School. This project
will include the intersection of FM1187, Barnwell
