The name “Willow Park” dates back to a willow
tree-laden park built along the historic US Hwy
80 in the 1940’s, according to city historian
Kay Davis. When the residents of the area decided
to incorporate the city in 1963, the city was named
after the park, which was eventually demolished
when the present Interstate 20 was built.
The vision of Willow Park being a haven for
travelers along I-20 remains today, with Willow
Park growing into the second-largest city in Parker
County, a residential and commercial hub for those
just west of the DFW metroplex.
At just more than 5,000 residents – mostly young
families – Willow Park is the largest city in the
prestigious Aledo ISD, with portions of the city also
falling inside the acclaimed Weatherford ISD. The
award-winning Trinity Christian Academy, a private
parochial school, also sits inside the Willow Park city
limits. The city sees dozens of new home builds each
year as more and more residents flock to the area for
quality schools, quality restaurant and retail choices,
and quality of life.
Willow Park offers the charm of a small town, the
amenities of urban life, and none of the crowds of
the “big city.” New concrete on Ranch House Road
allows for easy traffic flow, a recently inked deal with
the city of Fort Worth will provide a water supply
for decades to come, and the recently completed $4
million public safety building houses the fire and
police departments for the city – the only city in
Parker County besides the county seat, Weatherford,
to have its own police and fire departments.
