Commercially, Willow Park continues to thrive.
In addition to upscale “The Shops of Willow Park,”
featuring dining, shopping, and Parker County’s only
brewery – the city recently added a Starbucks and
additional casual dining and retail options. Willow
Park also features a lengthy list of service providers
such as banks, financial consultants, real estate
agents, doctors, and dentists.
A significant development is in the works for the
city’s visitors: Springhill Suites by Marriott is under
construction in The Shops. The hotel will be an 87-
room all suites hotel with a modern design, featuring
kitchenettes, West Elm furniture, workspaces, a
business center and a state-of-the-art fitness center.
The hotel will also include an event space, an
outdoor barbeque pit, a 24-hour market and flexible
space for meeting and social events.
Just across the river, Willow Park North is under
development which will include single and multifamily
homes, a park and playground, and walking
trails. On the southern side of town, a mixed-use
commercial/residential development abuts the Aledo
Athletics Inc. playing fields, and Meadows Place
continues construction on houses just north of I-20.
For playtime, residents and visitors to Willow Park
should visit the city’s award-winning golf course,
Squaw Creek. In addition to recently receiving a
beautiful multi-million-dollar renovation, the course
is the home of the only First Tee program in Parker
County – a program that guides children through
lessons in character and citizenship using golf.
The course will also break ground this year on the
Ben Hogan Learning Center, which will provide even
more opportunities for young people in the city.
Squaw Creek is also home to the annual Rayfield
Wright Celebrity Golf Tournament, which raised
more than $50,000 for the city’s fire and police
departments in its first year. The tournament featured
more than a dozen NFL Hall of Fame members, and
a silent and live auction with one-of-a-kind Dallas
Cowboys and NFL memorabilia.
Squaw Creek is also host to an American Junior
Golf Association tournament which brings the top
youth golfers from around the country to Willow
Park. These golfers are the best of the best in youth
golf – their tournament not only helps them to
qualify for college scholarships, but raises money
for local non-profits. In the case of the Squaw
Creek tournament, it raises money for the First Tee
program.
Also coming to Willow Park in 2020 – the new
and improved Cross Timbers Park, which will feature
two age-appropriate playgrounds, walking trails, and
green space. Future plans for the park include picnic
areas and a public restroom, giving our families even
more opportunities to make memories in a place
they love to call home.
Plans continue for upgrades to the city’s roads,
wastewater systems, and other infrastructure
improvements. n
Welcome to Willow Park –
we’re working for you!
