Daniel Ninth Grade, Aledo Learning Center and
Aledo High School (10-12th).
The district, which opened in 1951, covers 132
square miles and serves Bearcats living in Aledo,
Willow Park, Annetta, Annetta North, Annetta
South, Fort Worth, Cresson and Hudson Oaks
and in Parker and Tarrant Counties. Aledo ISD’s
partnership with these municipalities contributes to
the ability to collaborate and plan for growth and its
impact.
Aledo ISD is a member of the Fast-Growth
Coalition, which includes districts across the state
with at least 2,500 students and have experienced
growth of at least 10 percent over the last five years.
The projection over the next 10 years includes
Aledo ISD’s enrollment surpassing 12,000 students
(currently 6,500).
As the construction of schools represents a new
phase of growth, a successful culture in the classroom
and extracurricular activities will be part of the
foundation. Aledo ISD maintains its status as a top
performer in the annual University Interscholastic
League’s Lone Star Cup Award, an award that
recognizes the state’s most successful schools in
academic, fine arts and athletics in each classification.
In addition, the district earned an “A” accountability
rating by the Texas Education Agency and Aledo
High School produced two National Merit
Semifinalists and 12 nationally-commended scholars
during the 2019-2020 school year.
The Bearcats also showcased a national
championship in FFA and state champions/state
qualifiers in football (state record 9th championship),
cross country, band, swimming, robotics, Business
Professionals of America (national qualifier) and
HOSA-Future Health Professionals.
This profound success also leads to future
opportunities as Aledo High School seniors earned
more than $24 million in scholarships in 2019.
With the ongoing growth, so too is the district’s
commitment to provide more opportunities for
students. Aledo ISD has 29 endorsement pathways,
27 Advanced Placement classes offered and six dualcredit
courses. Multiple career pathways are offered
to students including: Engineering, Fine Arts,
Business, Animal Science, Graphic Design, Law
& Public Safety, Horticulture, Computer Science,
World Languages, Social Studies, Cosmetology,
Health Science, Education, Automotive, Journalism
and Welding.
Aledo ISD’s instructional focus is committed to
building critical thinkers and promoting students to
write from the beginning and beyond. Additional
focus has been implemented to increase the level
of rigor and expand the relevance to real-world
application.
The district has 700 employees and is led by
Superintendent Dr. Susan K. Bohn, who joined
Aledo ISD in 2018. During her tenure, Aledo ISD
has adopted an instructional focus, with an emphasis
on best-practice teaching and learning expectations
for K-12 district-wide. The district has accomplished
a District of Innovation designation, and the Board
of Trustees/Superintendent team has completed the
eXcellence in Governance (XG) professional learning
series and adopted the district’s first-ever legislative
priorities.
Under Dr. Bohn’s leadership, the district has also
worked to forge connections in the community,
