Weatherford College | Crystal Woerly
Weatherford College was founded in 1869 and
serves the citizens of Parker, Palo Pinto, Hood, Jack
and Wise counties. In addition to the main campus
in Weatherford, courses are available at locations in
Mineral Wells, Granbury and Wise County. Students
also have access to hundreds of online courses and
local high school students can access dual enrollment
courses on their own campuses.
With a total of enrollment of approximately 6,000
and growing, expansion into Eastern Parker County
is in the early planning stages with the purchase
of 30 acres adjacent to the property bought by the
Aledo ISD in 2008. A branch campus could be built
on that site in the future.
Since the campus on the hill opened in 1968,
WC has continued to add facilities to meet the
educational needs of its service district. Over the past
decade, the college constructed the 40,600-squarefoot
Academic Building and 31,000-square-foot
Don Allen Health Science Building. In 2020, the
college is tearing down Couts Hall to make way for
a 60,000-square-foot, three-story Workforce and
Emerging Technologies Building. n
