8 open green spaces for parks. This is a continuous
expansion to the original Parks of Aledo. In addition
to the neighborhood’s desirable location and
amenities, it has also piqued the interest of the public
for another reason; because of its 6.2 miles of biking/
hiking trail intertwined within the neighborhood.
The Parks of Aledo Trail was designed to enhance
the natural topography of the area and preserve
native plants and wildlife. The Fort Worth developer
and land manager, James R. Harris Partners, LLC.,
in collaboration with the City of Aledo, carefully
planned and created this Trail in alignment to Baird,
Hampton and Brown’s design and International
Mountain Biking Association guidelines. The
Trail will continue to grow as the neighborhoods
develop and, at build-out (estimated 2022), it will
be approximately 11 miles long. The Parks of Aledo
Trail will integrate into the City’s vision of a future
hiking/biking trail system of its own, which will
connect its northern and southern boundaries.
Use of the Parks of Aledo Trail is free to the
public, and is expected to be a long-lasting amenity
for the residents of the City of Aledo, Parker County,
and the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex for many years
to come. A Trail map can be found on the Parks of
Aledo’s website at www.ParksOfAledo.com.
Production of a second development of The Villas
of Aledo on Old Annetta Road will add 37 new
housing units.
Harvest of Aledo, a Memory Care & Senior
Living Center, on Bailey Ranch Road will be a
325,805 sq. foot facility. It will also have 9 duplex
style cottages for seniors. Construction is expected
to begin in late spring 2020.
More homes are planned for several developments
in the Annetta’s, and the sale of Bear Creek Ranch
to a developer could potentially mean even more
housing in the far southeastern part of the county.
Aledo ISD currently ranks 17th in new home
growth in the DFW metroplex and that ranking is
expected to rise.
Not surprisingly, business owners have recognized
a need for services in the area, and the local economy
is thriving with the injection of new products
and services offered locally. Texas’ newest H-E-B
location in Hudson Oaks has opened and a new
CVS has opened in Aledo. Nextlink Internet, based
in Hudson Oaks, Texas, is a provider of highspeed
internet and voice services to residential,
business, institutional and government customers in
mostly rural and small-town areas has also grown.
Nextlink recently won a competitive bid for $281
million in support over 10 years from the Federal
Communications Commission’s (FCC) Connect
America Fund (CAF), which is helping the company
deploy broadband services to more than 100,000
homes and businesses in six states: Texas, Oklahoma,
Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, and Nebraska.
The Shops at Willow Park, the commercial anchor
for Willow Park North, is at full occupancy, with
more businesses building around the development.
The Willow Park North neighborhood will also be
getting a Springhill Suites by Marriot.
The growth means local cities and the county have
more revenue to increase spending on infrastructure
to help accommodate the ever-growing population,
as east Parker County becomes an ever-improving
place to call home. n
