City of Aledo | MAYOR KIT MARSHALL
The City of Aledo encompasses just 2.6 square miles
with a current population estimated at 5,700 per the
latest US Census projections, a 6.3% increased 2020
growth rate, and a 108.28% increase since 2010. Residential
growth, a result of new neighborhoods of single-family
homes, brings forth increased priorities on our roads and
the city’s infrastructure; it impacts City staff and the services
we provide, and it dictates many internal decisions to keep
operations running smoothly.
The City of Aledo is now a “Home Rule” city after voters
overwhelmingly approved a Home Rule Charter in November
of 2021. Prior to this election Aledo was a General Law City,
one that has a population under 5,000 and is regulated by
State Law. A City can become a Home Rule City by a vote of
the citizens once they reach a population over 5,000. Home
Rule cities have more flexibility and more Citizen input in
City Government. The City of Aledo is the second city in
Parker County to be a Home Rule City.
“The Lakes” is the latest and final planned development
of the Parks of Aledo neighborhoods. The preliminary
plat was approved by the City Council in October 2021.
The development consists of 107 acres and will have 257
lots. Construction will begin in the spring of 2022. At the
conclusion of this housing development Parks of Aledo will
have over 1,000 homes on the ground in the City of Aledo.
“The Bluffs”, a planned development in the Parks of Aledo
neighborhood is under construction for 202 new homes
