developers. You can see this innovation in the urbanized style
that we have been moving toward over the past few years in
certain sections of the city. By encouraging walkable, mixeduse
style developments, we are able to develop strategically
and remain a vibrant, fun place to live, work and play.
These “urban” types of developments encourage multimodal
forms of transportation, community-building and
they maximize the limited space we have for development.
Mixed-use, urban developments also limit the impact to our
city’s operations by reducing road maintenance as well as
water and sewer lines. Some recent examples of these types of
developments include the Oakey Corridor overlay, Creekside
at Hudson Oaks mixed used development and the city’s
upcoming multi modal trail project that will connect Gene L.
Voyles Park to Weatherford ISD’s Mary Martin Elementary.
In 2021, the City of Hudson Oaks welcomed several new
businesses into the family. These include AutoZone, Bahama
Buck’s, Crumbl Cookies, Hotworx, The Resale Secret, and
Wingstop.
Did you know that Hudson Oaks is now the home of
two corporate headquarters? That’s right, Superior Livestock
joined Nextlink on the I20 corridor. Superior Livestock is
America’s leader in livestock marketing and conducts live cattle
auctions online and on their own cable channel! Nextlink is
an internet service provider using fixed wireless technology
to deliver voice and data services to the under-served
commercial, small business, residential, education, healthcare
and public sector markets.
The City of Hudson Oaks continues to work collaboratively
with our neighboring communities to benefit our residents
and businesses. A prime example of regional cooperation
is the Fort Worth water line project that is currently under
construction and will be completed in the summer of 2022.
When completed, this project will bring quality surface water
from Fort Worth, along I-20 to both the City of Hudson
Oaks and the City of Willow Park. This will ensure the City
of Hudson Oaks will be able to sustain desired commercial
growth for decades without impacting our residents’ utility
services. This monumental utility project would not have
been possible without the determined efforts of city staff and
city councils of all three municipalities.
Additionally, Hudson Oaks is planning for its future with
an update to the Comprehensive Plan! The Comprehensive
Plan is the City’s blueprint for how Hudson Oaks will
develop in the future and what our services, events, and
goals will be over the coming years. We started the process
