Plaza as we further the DNA of Place in Aledo. This plan also
includes connectivity between the Aledo Historic District/
Aledo Commons and Civic Plaza including a new City Hall
facility and the Community Center.
The City Council approved a Resolution for the
commitment of requirements needed for additional funding
(grant) for more sidewalks to be constructed on Bailey Ranch
Road between FM1187 and Aledo High School as well as
sidewalks for FM1187/FM5 and Barnwell intersection.
TXDOT is currently in design phase for widening
FM1187 south of the railroad tracks past the schools and
will include the intersection of FM1187, Barnwell Lane and
FM5. This project is scheduled to begin construction in 2024.
In the interim, the Aledo Independent School District’s 2022
remodeling and relocation projects for Vandagriff Elementary,
Aledo Middle School, and McAnally Intermediate School are
expected to alleviate some of the school traffic, but growth
in Aledo and surrounding areas will continue and require
ongoing planning to address future needs.
New playground equipment is scheduled for installation at
Bearcat Park and will be ready for play by Spring. This will
replace the original equipment that has been there since 2004.
The park was built by the community and businesses that
worked together and also raised the necessary funding. We are
excited about the new and updated park that kids will continue
to enjoy for years to come. The City has also approved Place
Strategies to work on a new Parks Recreation and Open Spaces
Plan to enhance the update of our Strategic Plan.

from 3pm-7pm in the parking lot of the Aledo Community
