Rail from across the nation intersects at Tower 55 in Fort
Worth. The Dallas-Fort Worth region is the nation’s largest
non-border international port of entry.
Commuter rail is available via the Trinity Railway Express
(TRE) which links Fort Worth and Dallas with more than
30 trips per day beginning as early as 5 a.m. The service
is available at two stations in downtown Fort Worth, the
Intermodal Transportation Center and the T&P Station.
Parking is available at the T&P for day trips only, no overnight
parking is available. Other stops along the TRE include DFW
Airport, Richland Hills, Bell Helicopter, UT Southwestern
Medical Center and Dallas Market Center, American Airlines
Center, Irving and downtown Dallas. Other destinations are
available via public transit in Fort Worth and Dallas at the end
of the rail lines. TRE service is also available on Saturday with
18 scheduled trips eastward to Dallas as well as special trains
for sporting and other events at the American Airlines Center.
By Air
For long-range commercial flights, Dallas/Fort Worth
International Airport is less than an hour’s drive. Alliance
International Airport, a growing hub for corporate and
freight air service, is about 30 miles away. Meacham Airport,
15 miles away, provides private corporate jet service. The
Parker County Airport, a small private facility located near
FM 5 and Interstate 20, serves small private aircraft. Also, in
Dallas is Love Field, the home of Southwest Airlines, which
has expanded low-cost passenger service all over the country
as well as international flights to several cities in Mexico.
HEALTHCARE
Medical City Weatherford is a 103-bed, all private-room
hospital that includes a network of medical clinics serving
Parker County. The dedicated and experienced medical staff
represents more than 31 medical specialties. Medical City’s
comprehensive health care services encompass inpatient and
outpatient care, and medical, surgical and emergency care, to
name a few. It has recently added heart and vascular center
featuring two cardiac cath labs, eight critical care rooms, 52
new private patient rooms and more parking. The hospital
has received numerous awards and recognition, including
the Press Ganey Summit Award, the Joint Commission’s Top
Performer in Key Quality Measures and the Joint Commission’s
Gold Seal of Approval. Medical City Weatherford is located
at 713 E Anderson Street in Weatherford.
East Parker County now includes a freestanding emergency
room with the entry of Texas Health Neighborhood Care &
Wellness Willow Park, an integrated health campus owned
and operated by Texas Health Resources. The Neighborhood
Care & Wellness center opened on January 19, 2015 and
is just phase one of the 30-acre campus owned by Texas
Health. It currently offers a freestanding 24-hour a day,
seven-day a week emergency room with 10 beds, a fitness
center, and 20,000 sf medical office building. The services
provided include cardiac rehabilitation, physical therapy,
occupational therapy, full laboratory services, CT, MRI,
digital mammography, and a chronic disease management
