Aledo independent school district | continued
These are just a few examples of the way the district
cultivates greatness through outstanding academics, fine arts,
athletics and more. With ongoing and rapid growth, the
district is committed to provide more and more opportunities
for students with support from the Aledo ISD Board of
Trustees, the 2021 TASA Outstanding School Board for the
entire State of Texas.
After opening its sixth elementary school - Annetta
Elementary - in August 2021, the Aledo ISD is set to open
its second middle school - McAnally Middle School - in
August 2022 with a change in grade configuration to 6-8.
Also in August 2022, a newly renovated and expanded Aledo
Middle School and Vandagriff Elementary will open as well
as the district’s Aledo ISD Early Childhood Academy that
will house a new employee childcare center, Pre-K and other
early childhood educational services.
The district, which opened in 1951, covers 132 square
miles and serves Bearcats living in Aledo, Willow Park,
Annetta, Annetta North, Annetta South, Fort Worth, Cresson
and Hudson Oaks and in Parker and Tarrant Counties. Aledo
ISD’s partnership with those municipalities contributes to
the ability to collaborate and plan for growth and its impact.
Aledo ISD is a member of the Fast-Growth Coalition,
which includes districts across the state with at least 2,500
students that have experienced a growth rate of at least 10
percent over the last five years. The Aledo ISD is projected to
more than double in enrollment by 2030-2031.
The district has more than 850 employees and is led by
2021 Region 11 Superintendent of the Year Superintendent
Dr. Susan Bohn, who joined the Aledo ISD in 2018. During
her tenure, AISD has adopted an instructional focus with an
emphasis on best-practice teaching and learning expectations
districtwide. The efforts of the district and its
commitment to growing greatness have been
recognized both locally and by the state. The
East Parker County Chamber of Commerce
awarded Aledo ISD as the 2020 Large Business
of the Year for businesses with more than 100
employees. n
