Aledo independent school district | Mercedes Mayer
If the number of state send-offs or other student celebrations
in the past year are any indicator of success, Aledo ISD
is certainly growing greatness in its students - with
inspiration and guidance from a dedicated, highly valued
Bearcat staff.
Among the many accolades achieved were:
• 47 Aledo High School students were recognized for
academic achievement on the PSAT by the National
Merit Scholarship Corporation or the College Board. Two
students were named National Merit Finalists, six students
were National Merit Commended Scholars, and 39
students earned a combined 71 honors by the College Board
(National African American Recognition Program Scholars,
National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholars, National
Indigenous Recognition Program Scholars, and/or National
Rural and Small Town Recognition Program Scholars). This
was more than four times the number of honorees from last
school year!
• The Aledo High School Wind Ensemble was chosen as
one of two featured high school bands from the state of
Texas to be featured and perform at the 2022 Texas Music
Educators Association Convention in February in San
Antonio.
• The Aledo ISD launched a Special Olympics delegation
for the first time, announcing the Bearcat Grit track and
field team and the Aledo Excite cheerleading team. Aledo
High School was also named a Unified Champion School
through Special Olympics Texas. Special Olympics Unified
