
Statistics from area universities indicate that Weatherford
College alumni perform as well or better academically at the
university level than students who attended those universities
straight out of high school.
A variety of collegiate experiences, including student
organizations, entertainment activities, student housing and
intramural events provide students with the opportunity to
find their niche in the student body.
“My experiences at WC gave me a platform to discover what
career I wanted to pursue, provided me with opportunities to
sharpen my public speaking skills and allowed me to become
more confident in myself,” said agriculture communications
alumna Elise Swanson. “Once you find ‘your people,’ it is a
great community where you can grow with others. I joined the
Ag Club and had many memorable experiences with my peers.”
WC boasts nationally-acclaimed theatre, music and jazz
programs and is also known for its excellence in men’s and
women’s basketball, baseball, softball and rodeo as well as
new golf and tennis programs.
Weatherford College was founded in 1869 and officially
serves the citizens of Parker, Palo Pinto, Hood, Jack and Wise
counties. In addition to the main campus in Weatherford,
courses are available at locations in Mineral Wells, Granbury
and Wise County; plus, dozens of online courses including
dual enrollment courses for high school students.
WC has a total of enrollment of approximately 6,000 and
growing. Since the campus on the hill opened in 1968, WC
has continued to add facilities to meet the education needs of
its service district.
